UBER

The story of Uber begins in 2008 when its founder, Travis Kalanick, attends a tech conference in Paris where urban transportation improvements are being discussed. On his way back to the hotel, he has a hard time finding a taxi, which makes him think: What if getting a car was much easier? He takes a year to develop his idea and in 2009 launches UberCab in San Francisco, USA. By 2011, the idea had expanded and the name was shortened to simply Uber.
This story shows how digitalization reshaped our way of understanding transportation.

NETFLIX

Founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph, this company specialized in selling and renting DVDs. But they soon realized the advantages of moving their business online. In 2007, they created what we now know as one of the most successful on-demand streaming platforms for movies and TV shows.
Digitalization allowed the company to bring its service to the most remote corners of the world. As long as there's internet, you can connect to Netflix.
